What to do in Buenos Aires – Costanera Sur and its attractions

Until 1980 the Costanera Sur in Buenos Aires was the beach of porteños (inhabitants of Buenos Aires). This beach was established there after the construction of the old Puerto Madero (see below). In 1920 could be found in front numerous restaurants and breweries over time were recycled to host several museums. This is the case of Munich brewery, today transformed into the Museo del Humor (see below).

Finally, in 1980 , the old beach disappeared and its grounds became what we now know as the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve. (see below)

Puerto Madero

puerto-madero-muelle-buenos-aires-argentinaWithout doubt Puerto Madero is the main attraction of the Costanera Sur in Buenos Aires. Originally this port was built by Eduardo Madero and his project approved in 1882 but over time it was abandoned. In the 1990s the work for refurbishment and remodeling of this port began, to give life back to this place. Puerto Madero shone again but no longer as a dock for merchant ships but as a beautiful promenade with shops and commercial offices all around.

Puerto Madero today represents to the inhabitants of Buenos Aires another financial center of the city. It contains the offices of many national and international companies besides being decorated with a large number of works of art with high cultural value.
